The Gospel for every person….

“Or what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it…” (Luke 15:8)

Over the last few weeks we have been giving out coins like these to people..OK so they are not silver but you get the point. According to Jesus – Father God is sweeping his house and literally turning everything upside down to find His children who have been lost. We have been giving coins to people who do not know Jesus and who don’t walk with Him every day. We wanted to share with them that God loves them so much that He is looking for them and wants them to know that He is there. At least then they can make a decision to respond to God’s love through Jesus. Most people haven’t even heard about God’s love in a way that they clearly understand…

In some small way we hope that through talking with people, talking to them about faith in Jesus and praying with some of them – that it will have showed them something of Father God’s love for them…

The other afternoon me and a friend spent the afternoon giving out ice creams to people in our town. It was brilliant. When people asked us why we were doing it we shared with them how God loves them and shared about His ultimate show of love for us all….

It makes me think about Jesus. He was known as the friend of sinners. Throughout the Bible we read about Jesus eating and hanging out with tax collectors, prostitutes and other sinners. His Church grew amongst the sick – not the righteous who thought they didn’t need a doctor. (Matthew 9:12+13)

Jesus has entrusted His work to us now. Scary isn’t it? Well it’s scary when you think about what we have made the Christian life about. If we were honest – for most of us our ‘Faith’ is just one of the many things that competes for space in our lives.  When I think about my own priorities – I wonder where ‘what Jesus wants’ fits in…..

If we can somehow get back to a life of simply knowing the Father and making Him known then maybe………..Well who knows what the possibilities are! Maybe you could share what Father God is like with your neighbors or the people you work with. Maybe you could walk around your town looking for opportunities to share and pray with people rather than window shopping. Maybe I could seek what Jesus wants with more passion and commitment…

Like lost coins we have been found by our owner! Father God has rescued us. Let’s not keep it all to ourselves but help other people who have got lost along the way as well…..

I think it’s awesome how you guys just go out and do it in a normal way. People make so much fuss with flyers and banners it scares people away.
