Lay it down…..

Lay it all down ….

There is nothing we can do to earn His favour … There’s nothing we can do to capture His attention .. For we stand like anyone else on death row…

Waiting ……………. To be pardoned seems insane. We are all not worthy, we have all been tinged by sin.. Our dress, or make up won’t win Him over. Our politeness, morality , or funny wit..

Even our actions…

Jesus Christ is standing in front of us, arm’s open wide.. Looking us in the eye, knowing our hearts. Speaking to us saying…

Lay it all down and run to me… Let it go, surrender all and follow me… I will give you everything you need !”

There is nothing you can do to earn my favour. I love you through and through. Lay it all down and run to me, I will carry you ”

“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill and destroy. “I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” John 10:9-11

“And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter ,and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.”Then He said to them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of Men.”They immediately left their nets and followed Him.” Matthew 4:18-20

“Cast your burdens unto Jesus, for He cares for you !”

“Look around you. See how God dresses the wild flowers ! Not even the famous King Solomon had clothes as beautiful as theirs, so don’t spend your life worrying. Do what God wants and he will give you all you need. You can trust Him!”Matt 6:28-34 (The Lion Children’s Bible)

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the post.

How hard it is, though, to give up everything and follow. Most of us, I think, give up a measure and follow.

Hi Dyfed,

Cath did this one so I will pass on your thanks.

It is a funny one isn’t it. What did the first followers leave behind? Did they fully comprehend the extent to which they were going to be leaving everything? I think of Isaac our eldest. I am more concerned for Him to have an attitude of being prepared to do what I (as His loving Father) ask Him to do. So rather than it being about the degree to which we leave everything isn’t it more about letting go of things when Father asks us? For the first disciples, they had to let go of their jobs and livelihood initially as this was the immediete thing that would prevent them from following Jesus and His plan for their lives. But as they did that little step then it led to more!

So maybe it is isn’t about giving up absolutely everything.. but a willingness each day to respond to His leadings?

This is the mystery of walking in the Spirit!
