I met a pagan today…

So today me and a friend met a guy in Glastonbury. He lives in a van and ‘roams’ the area (his words)

Here’s how he described his story…

He was a fully practising pagan. His mother (a nominal church-goer) told him about Jesus a couple of years ago.

He began to realise that the magic and paganism was not bringing him any freedom and if anything he felt that he was becoming a slave to it.

He decided to give his life to Jesus and to walk in the light.

He burned all his pagan symbols and everything that was linked to his former way of life.

Since then he has read the Bible, prayed and attempted to obey Jesus. However he told us today that he hasn’t become ‘involved’ in a church because he doesn’t fit in and because he likes to be outside amongst nature rather than sitting in a building.

He’s looking to find like minded people who want to follow Jesus in community.

What would you say to him?

A lot! “Sounds like you have a lot in common with Jesus, the fields, the outdoors, both you and Jesus weren’t into religion but life and relationships. etc. etc.

I met Jesus about forty years ago. And have been attending church pretty much every week since then. I am starting to feel the same way. I am relating more now to ‘pagans’. Our pagan friends seem open to hearing from God. They want to follow Jesus as much as anybody. I wouldn’t say too much. But mostly listen.
