Going and making disciples…..

Something so easy to do that 12 ordinary, untrained men did it.

Something so powerful that it can transform individuals, communities and nations.

Something so simple that even a child can grasp it.

Going and making disciples of Jesus Christ.

There are two issues here. First of all we need to “Go”. That means leaving something. Leaving our comfort zone, family, our financial security or even our country. But whether you go overseas or next door it still involves going.

The second issue is how do we make disciples of Jesus Christ? Well if we are a disciple of Jesus Christ then we are simply passing on everything we do. A disciple is someone who hears the word of God or the teachings of Jesus and who does them. (John 15)

What did Jesus ask His disciples to do…..”Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit and teach them to observe everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

So if we think about what Jesus has asked us to do then what are two things that are going to hinder people joining in with His work in the nations?

1. People thinking that it actually is not about “Going”, serving or sharing anything with others but rather about receiving God into everything we are doing and Him blessing us

2. Making things so complicated that only certain professionals or trained people can do the job.

Anyone thinking what I’m thinking…..?

How are you going and making disciples?
