Easter Stories……

Over Easter we have been thinking about what Jesus has done for us. But this year we have been realising again that the same Holy Spirit which raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us (Romans 8:11) This is amazing! It means that we are not only people who tell others  ‘the’ Easter story. But we have been somehow drawn into the story now as well. No longer do we point people to a cross on a distant hill somewhere a few thousand years ago. But we also share the ongoing story of Jesus’ work in us and through us. So many people ‘know’ about what Jesus did just over 2000 years ago but it means nothing to them because they do not see how it is relevant to them today.

We wanted to share some of our Easter stories with you! They are all stories about how ‘The’ Easter story is alive and well today. We read stories from around the world and sometimes feel inadequate and that God has forgotten about us here in the UK. Be encouraged that God is wanting to give us stories about how His Holy Spirit is at work here in the UK and in your lives. We hope that you will be encouraged to step out with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to ‘work out’ what Jesus did 2000 years ago…..One of our greatest desires  is to see The Father revealing Himself to people who do not know Him yet – so our stories are about that…

……….One evening Catherine felt it was on her heart to go and visit one of the mums in the town.We had loads of milk in our fridge so Catherine felt she should take some milk round and offer it to the family. The mum was a bit taken aback when Catherine turned up with some milk. She had only just said to her husband that they needed some milk……..

……..We have been giving out loads of plastic eggs with a chocolate egg and a message about Jesus inside. We have been able to give them to business owners, visitors to the area and to people and families we know. This has led to conversations with people and opportunities to pray with people……..

…..Whilst in London I was able to talk with people about Jesus and hand out eggs to people. I spoke with a number of young people from other countries in Europe who had no knowledge of a living God who wants to be involved in our lives. I was able to give them a John’s Gospel and am staying in touch with them……

…..Me and a friend have been going out on Friday/Saturday evening to pray for the town and specifically  for all the young people who are increasingly hanging around the town drinking. We both feel completely inadequate when we think about how to engage with people like this who seem so hostile to people in general – let alone followers of Jesus. But over the last few weeks we have been able to pray for young  people on the streets and at the park and have been able to explain about who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him……..

Like us you probably feel that the job is too big! There are so many people who do not know Jesus and sometimes it feels like none of them want to know! But GOD is wanting to reveal Himself to people because He loves them. If we will be prayerful, attentive to what the Holy Spirit is wanting to do amongst the people around us and respond when an opportunity arises then we can be part of the Father’s work to reveal Himself to people. These are just small stories – but they are a start!

Make some steps towards revealing Father God to people around you….

It is so encouraging to hear how God is moving in different places, and how God is using you!

Thank you for the “stories”! May the Holy Spirit water the seeds that you have sown, that they may grow in good soil to His glory.
Every Blessing.
